Jeffree Star Cosmetics Collaboration
Thanks to Shane’s close friend Jeffree Star, Shane’s new passion for makeup has become a new venture for him. Together with Jeffree, Shane released the Conspiracy collection consisting of eyeshadow palettes, lipsticks, and accessories.
The entire process of making the makeup, including industry secrets about the beauty world, was filmed for Shane’s channel. On launch day, all of the products sold out in minutes.
During the docuseries, Jeffree said to Shane that we would make approximately $10 Million or more from this venture.
YouTuber Shane Dawson was born in Long Beach, California, on July 19th, 1988. His full name is Shane Lee Yaw. He has two brothers named Jacob and Jerid.
Shane’s parents Kyle and Teresa, divorced when he was nine years old. Kyle was an alcoholic, causing chaos in Shane’s early life. Once Shane’s father left, the family became very poor.
Growing up, Shane attended Lakewood high school, where he discovered his love of scriptwriting. He was lonely, overweight, and dealing with bullying, but writing movie scripts made him happy giving him a creative outlet. He always knew he wanted to pursue making movies. Weighing 400 pounds and having his mom sew together two graduating gowns to fit him, Shane took it upon himself to get fit. He lost 150 pounds in six months after graduating and wanted to turn his life around.
In 2008 while working at Jenny Craig, Shane created his YouTube channel as the perfect outlet to cure his boredom and pursue his acting dreams.
He worked alongside his family, and they participated in the funny videos goofing off in the office. Things went south when an executive from Jenny Craig saw the videos and decided to fire the entire Yaw family.
Shane’s early videos were funny skits where he dressed up as characters. He said his friends didn’t want to help him, so he had no choice but to use wigs and makeup. It seemed to work when the videos were very successful, and Shane started blowing up on the platform.
Shane’s personal life has also changed in front of the camera. He dated fellow YouTuber LisBug from 2011-2015. Two years after the couple broke up, Shane came out as bisexual. Today he is engaged to Ryland Adams. The couple lives in Los Angeles with their pets.
Today, Shane has over 23.2 million YouTube subscribers. He has once again changed the type of content he makes on the platform. His new style of documentary-style series videos has taken the internet by storm.
With his cameraman/editor Andrew Siwicki the two have dived deep into trending topics about other YouTubers like Tana Mongeau, Jake Paul, and, more recently, a full series about the beauty industry with Jeffree Star.
These videos and their controversial topics earned millions of views and today fans beg Shane to make a docu-series about every internet trend that pops up.
In 2013 Shane started a podcast called Shane and Friends with his friend Lauren. On the show, they interviewed different celebrities and YouTubers. Jessie Buttafuoco co-hosted with Shane after Lauren left the show. The podcast ended its production in early 2018.
Shane also wrote two books in 2015 and 2016 about his personal life experiences in a collection of essays.
