Canon Cameras For Vlogging
1. Canon G7X Mark II -
Best Canon Vlogging Camera
The Canon G7X II is a vlogger favorite for years, and this year is no different. The G7X III disappointed many videographers who were looking to upgrade, so they stayed with the G7X II for vlogging.
Let's get into why we love it. It films high-quality video in 1080p at 60fps with its 20.2MP CMOS sensor. It also performs well in low lighting thanks to its Digic 4 Processor.
Vloggers love the 3 Inch LCD flip screen that features on this camera and is one of the main selling points that make it perfect for vloggers who upload YouTube Videos. The display allows you to see what is in the frame at all times and makes it that bit easier to film a vlog.
The G7X II also features Bluetooth and WiFi features that will allow you to transfer video and pictures to other devices such as your laptop, tablet, or smartphone for editing or sharing on social media applications.
2. Canon EOS M50 - Best Canon Mirrorless For Vlogging
The Canon M50 is a mirrorless camera that features 4K Video Recording at up to 30 FPS. The Canon m50 is ideal for vloggers who want to set up their video quality at a reasonable price point.
The M50 features a 24.1mp CMOS sensor to ensure high-quality video and images. This allows it to record 4K Ultra HD at 30fps and 1080p HD at 60FPS. 4K hasn't taken over 1080p HD on YouTube just yet, but the flexibility to both will reassure vloggers in the future.
Fo the best vlogging with the EOS M50, we would stick to 1080p HD, this uses its leading dual pixel autofocus technology to keep the subject in focus, as well as utilizing the processor for low lighting and image stabilization which allows for stable video.
The camera itself is easy to carry, is quite solidly built, and isn't as heavy as the typical DSLR cameras. The M50 also features the fully articulating screen that vloggers love, to ensure you're shooting the perfect shot every time.
3. Canon Powershot ELPH 360 -
Best Value 1080p HD Canon Camera
For entry-level vloggers looking to purchase a canon camera, The Canon ELPH is the perfect entry-level canon vlogging camera for you. The camera features everything you need to start making videos and uploading to YouTube. It features 1080p Full HD video resolution, similar to other best vlogging cameras.
It also packs a punch when it comes to built-in features thanks to its Digic 4 processer that its beefier counterpart, the G7X Mark II, has. The Digic 4 processor allows it to perform well in Low Lighting situations, and the autofocus is good for an entry-level camera.
What we loved about the ELPH is the OIS, optical image stabilization, which comes at an affordable price point as well as how small and portable it is for on the go vlogging. Thanks to the bundle kit with the extra battery, you can record for longer on the go.
The ELPH features an LCD Screen, which unfortunately doesn't articulate, so you will have to position yourself in the frame of the camera when recording.
The bundle kit comes with everything you need to start your vlogging camera or upgrade your existing cameras. This includes an SD card, Travel case, Mini Tripod (Which is ideal for vloggers), and an extra battery.
With this camera, you can record up to 30 minutes of video at one time. Many YouTubers such as Joey Graceffa have used this as a vlogging camera in the past when starting their YouTube Channels.
4. Canon EOS 90D -
Best Canon 4k DSLR For Vlogging
Many diehard Canon fans have been anticipating the 90D for a long time, and their wish has been granted. The Canon 90D is an upgrade of the 80D. This is one of Canons best DSLRs if you want to futureproof yourself and get ready for 4K Video Shooting without the crop.
The Canon 90D offers a 32.5 Megapixel APS-C sensor combined with its DIGIC 8 Processor to produce clearer pictures and videos, as well as good performance in low lighting.
In terms of video, the Canon 90D captures 4K Uncropped at 30 FPS, unlike other Canon Cameras that haven't been able to achieve this like the M50 Above. This makes it easy to capture wide angles, making it the perfect 4K Canon Vlogging Camera.
The video quality is impressive with the great color accuracy canon is known for. The 4K video does, although fairly soft-looking, if you compare it to competitors 4K Ranges like Sonys A6600. At 1080p HD, the video is a lot sharper.
The 90D does not feature In-body image stabilization, but it does offer Digital Image Stabilisation, but it does come with a crop factor. So if you're bringing it out and about or filming outdoors, you may need a portable tripod or gimbal. Like the 80D, the 90D features a 3.5mm microphone input for external microphones.
In terms of the camera build, the 90D is no lightweight. It's very well built and sturdy. It is recommended if you're shooting for an extended period to shoot with a tripod. This is not your out and about vlogging camera and would be more suited to a studio setup.
5. Canon SX740 HS -
Best Canon 4k Compact For Vlogging
This is one of Canons first compact point and shoot cameras to film up to 4K. The camera features everything you would want in a vlogging camera.
The camera shoots 4K video at up to 30 Frames per second, and 1080p HD Video at up to 60 Frames per second. The video captured when shooting in 4K is beautifully colored; however, a small bit soft, for my own personal liking. In comparison, the 1080p HD footage is crisp, clear, and well colored and, in my opinion, looks better than the 4K video.
We found when recording in 4k that it drains the battery quicker, so we would recommend if filming 4k out and about for extended periods to bring an extra battery.
In terms of autofocus in both video modes, it works very well. It keeps track of the subject while vlogging, so you don't have to worry about not being in focus all of the time.
What makes this truly a vlogging camera is the tiltable LCD, it flips up 90 degrees making it easy to see if you're in the frame while shooting your vlog.
The SX740 HS is light, compact and well built. This camera is built with an all-metal body, making it very durable. The camera lacks a 3.5mm jack for external microphones but does include a built-in microphone at the top of the camera, which is perfectly fine for vlogging.
6. Canon EOS 80D -
Best Canon DSLR for Vlogging
The Canon 80D one of Canon's best DSLRs for vlogging. YouTubers such as SuperWoman have used the Canon 80D to record their videos.
Canon's EOS 80D features a 24.2MP APS-C-sized CMOS sensor that can shoot 1080p HD up to 60fps in MP4 and 30fps in MOV. What we loved about the 80D was the upgrade to its autofocus system, it now has 45 autofocus points using its renowned dual pixel autofocus, for fast and accurate focus no matter what the scene.
In terms of video, the video produced great video quality with excellent color and exposure accuracy that looks great to watch.
The main feature of this camera that vloggers will enjoy is the 3 inches fully articulating LCD screen. Unlike the other cameras, this is fully articulating and can rotate a full 360 degrees.
Vloggers and videographers alike will also appreciate the microphone input that is available on this camera. This allows you to use other microphone input such as a shotgun mic or lavalier for better audio, as we all know the internal mic really isn't studio quality.
As it has a DSLR, it's quite heavier than the portable camer especially over extended periods of time. If you're using a tripod, this shouldn't be a problem, and we wouldn't recommend this for vlogging on the go.
7. Canon Vixia HF R800 -
Best Canon Camcorder for Vlogging
The Canon Vixia HF R800 HD is one of the most loved Canon Camcorders for shooting YouTube videos. This camera features a full HD CMOS sensor combined with a Digic 4 processor. This allows you to shoot a 1080p HD video at 60fps.
The camcorder is light and portable, making it easy to bring with you or record vlogs outside.
The Vixia has a flip-out LCD screen that will show you where you are in the frame, making it easier to vlog. The LCD panel is touch-sensitive, so if you want to keep one area in focus, all you need to do is tap to focus.
Vloggers who are starting their YouTube Career love this camcorder due to the budget price point, the HD quality recordings, and the fact that you can record more than 30minutes at a time.
