The one you've probably been waiting for, the 3DIO Free Space. Perhaps one of the ASMR communities "Most Wanted microphone for asmr" in terms of a microphone since it simulates a pair of ears.
Let us jump in with this microphone and see what all the fuss is about!
This is a binaural mic and has two microphones, one in the right and left. The 3DIO is made for ASMR with the silicon ears so the YouTuber can accurately pinpoint the sound to your ears.
The 3DIO is a sturdy device with a high-quality build with an exciting design of silicone ears imitating that of human ears makes it easily identifiable in ASMR Videos, which is one of our favorite things about this microphone.
The sound quality is awe-inspiring, it is immersive, there's also depth, High sensitivity, and low noise, just not as low as the NT1-A. ASMR Sessions with the 3Dio are very distinctive due to the 360 degree 3d sound.
The sounds produced in an ASMR session are very unique and deliver a more realistic experience because the microphone would record sound the same way an ear would. This is due to the binaural nature of the microphone and the replication of the ear. Some commenters have said its the best experience they've had watching the video.

8. 3DIO Free Space Pro - Expert Binaural Microphone
3DIO Free Space Pro is the upgrade of the 3DIO FS, which contains a lot of improvements over its predecessor. This has been used in a few YouTube videos; however, due to its high price point, it's only in the range of professionals or experienced ASMR artists with more significant followings.

In-Ear Microphones are new to the list, and indeed, deserve to be here. These earphones aren't just ordinary earphones, you may have seen them on some ASMR channels on youtube! These earphones contain condenser microphones built-in.

You can do various videos with these, such as ear cleaning, role plays, nature walks, and more.
Build Quality - The build quality of these earphones is good, but not the best we've seen. They are quite delicate and require careful use. They do fit well in the ear and allow you to monitor while recording.
Ease of Use - These are very easy to use; however, they do require a power source such as a recorder like the Tascam Or Zoom H4N. If you don't have one of these, you may need additional investment to power these headphones, so please do take that into consideration.
What to Look for in ASMR Microphones
Self Noise is how much noise a microphone produces when it is recording. This is especially important for ASMR since it focuses on the sounds themselves. You don't want to be hearing a buzz or hiss of a microphone, although it can be edited out to an extent. We found the Røde NT1-A was the quietest microphone and the Zoom H4N the loudest when it is connected to a power source.
Sound is vitally important. Each ASMR Video has its own style. These styles can be achieved with different types of mics, such as Binaural, Omnidirectional, and Cardioid.
Binaural ASMR Mics
Binaural Microphones, which consist of two microphones side by side, separated by a space. Binaural Mics are used to create the effect of whispering, tapping, or touching in the left and right ears. An example of a microphone like this is the 3Dio. The 3DIO also has 360 Degree sound and replicates the ear, so you can pinpoint where sounds are coming from around the ear.
Omni Directional ASMR Microphones
Omnidirectional Microphones can pick up sounds from all directions like the Blue Yeti. Blue Yeti has a variety of patterns, such as Stereo, Cardioid, Omni-Directional, and bidirectional audio. Allowing you to use the controls to try out a multitude, if you're looking to define your ASMR Style.
Cardioid ASMR Microphones
Cardioid Microphones pick up sounds directly from the source, which are great for whispers, talking, mouthing ASMR type videos such as the NT1-A, which are condenser microphones.
To achieve the binaural effect with a Cardioid microphone, you will need Two XLR Microphones such as the Rode NT1A. Two Blue Yetis, unfortunately, don't work like this due to its USB connectivity.
We hope you found this guide useful, please let us know your thoughts and experience with these ASMR Microphones!
